How to make Zaza Frog Hat

Hi,

This time I want to share a tutorial on how to make a Frog Hat.

Since it is the viral fashion trend for teenager wearing this kind of hat, my eldest daughter request me to make one for her. 

I named this hat "Zaza Frog Hat". 

DETAILS & INSTRUCTIONS

Fits 20.5" - 21" Head circumference.

Height from crown without ruffle = 7"

Material ;

Yarn Bobocorn 4ply

Color ; Green (A), dark green(B), black, white and pink.

Hook 4.00mm. 

Notions : Yarn Needle for weaving ends.

Skill Level : Easy.

Gauge: 18 dc; 9rounds = 4"

Abbreviations

ch = chain   dc = double crochet   sl st = slip stitch   sts = stitch   lp = loop   

rnd = round

US term.

notes ; 

~Beginning ch 3 or ch 1 of each round count as a stitch.

HAT

With hook and yarn A, ch 7, join into a ring as follows:

insert hook into first ch made and join to lp on hook with sl st to form the ring.

Round 1 : ch 3 (count as 1 dc) , work 13 dc into the center of the ring. Join rnd with sl st on top of ch 3 - 14 dc.

Round 2 : ch3, 1 dc in same st,  *2 dc in same st ,  rep from * around, sl st on top of  first ch 3- 28 dc

Round 3 : ch 3, 1 dc in same st, *1 dc in next st,  2 dc in same st, rep from * around. sl st on top of  first ch 3  - 42dc

Round 4 : ch 3, 1 dc next st , *2 dc in same st , dc in 2 next st, rep from *around. sl st on top of  first ch 3 - 56 dc

Round 5 : ch 3, 1 dc in same st, * dc in next 3 st, 2dc in same st, rep from * around. sl st on top of  first ch 3 - 70 dc

Round 6 : ch 3, 1 dc in next 3 st, *2 dc in same st, dc in 4 next st, rep from * around. sl st on top of  first ch 3- 84 dc

Round 7-15 : dc in each dc around.

RUFFLE ;

With color B, 

Round 16-18 : ch 3, *2 dc in same st, dc in next st, 2 dc in same st, rep from* around, 

sl st on top of first ch 3.

Round 19 : work Crab or reverse stitch each around. Fasten off and weave all ends.

EARS ( make 4)

With color Black,  ch 5 join into first ch made and join to lp on hook with sl st to form the ring

Round 1 : ch 3, 10 dc into the center of the ring. Join rnd with sl st on top of ch 3- 

Round 2 : Color White, Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, * 2 dc in same st, rep from * around - 22 dc

Round 3 : Color Green (A) ch 1, sc in same st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in same st, rep from * around-33 sc

Round 4 : ch 1, sc in same st, *2 sc in next st, 2 sc in same st st , rep from * around. sl st on top first of ch 3- 44 sc 

Fasten off and weave all ends.

CHEEK ( make 2)

With color pink, ch 5 join into first ch made and join to lp on hook with sl st to form the ring.

Round 1 : ch 3, 16 dc into the center of the ring. Fasten off.

FINISHING

~ sandwich the ear with another one ear and sew.

~sew cheek lower the both area left and right ear.

~using black yarn, stitch mouth between the cheeck.

Using yarn needle,weave all ends.

Mask up zaza with the finished frog hat during our trip to the island😍

Her little sister also want to take photoshoot with zaza's frog hat because she love wearing it in the sun😍
